Den Meeting 01 Nov 2008 - Satigny
Adrienne Condouret (the first 1/3 of our den leader trio) hosted and ran the den meeting. On the agenda for the day were the following:

• pine wood derby weigh in (remember 141.75grams or less)
• making emergency phone cards for our refrigerators
• meeting a Geneva police officer
• practicing their Den 9 cheer for the Pinewood Derby
• footprints in the sand (learned - used slow drying cement)
• lots of running around with pretend guns and swords shouting, "Crime!"

Also, Ted, George and Max earned their first/next achievement beads. Policeman X, aka Adrienne’s brother-in-law, gave a great introduction to the topic of policemen in and around the Geneva area. There are those with the green lapel insignia dealing with international affairs and those with the blue insignia handling the local issues. There are also plain clothes policemen, but there not that interesting to look at. One of the Den 9 cheers for next weeks Pinewood Derby is …

Pinewood Derby Planning - 8Nov

First of all, follow this link to this year’s Pinewood Derby Rules (if you got this far you missed the link).

Secondly, the cars kits have arrived and you should be receiving yours in the next days. Jennifer will organize distribution of those that have children at CDL. A couple of you will receive them in the post.

The Derby takes place in the La Chat cafeteria and the proposed schedule for the day (Saturday, November 8th ) is as follows:

0900 - 1100 Set up track and tables for bake sale & second hand sale 

1100 - 1145 BBQ preparation

1130 - 1245 Registration

1145 - 1245 BBQ:                                                    

1300 - 1500 Races

1500 - 1600 Clean up

Also, our den has been asked to help Den 2 and Den 6 with the BBQ. Also, EVERYBODY is asked to assist withe the clean up.

Den Meeting 11 Oct 2008 - La Rippe

  Many thanks to Chris and Jennifer Tomosivitch for hosting our den’s first meeting of the year. There were two themes for the day. Firstly, RIDE RIGHT where Chris taught the boys a bit of bicycle safety before heading out on the road with all nine boys for a short ride around the neighborhood. Secondly, SPORTS, SPORTS, SPORTS where the boys played a 15min match of the Beautiful Game. The boys had a chance to kick penalties against a dad after the game.

The boys learned the Cub Scout Motto, "do your best" and they learned, hopefully, that this implies participation ("doing") in the first instance.

They enjoyed hot dogs and chips before heading to the track for a round of relay races (hopping, gorilla-style, the bear).
