The "Société Electrique Intercommunale de la Côte" has a small power station called "Avouillons" located on the north side of the Lake road between Gland and Prangins.  It is near the Domaine Imperial Golf course.

The power station is equipped with two turbines coupled to a 200 kilowatt electrical power generator.  The station, which was built in 1900, was used to power a tramway that ran from Gland to Begnins.  The tramway closed in 1954, and the electricity is now used by residents of Prangins, Gland, Vich, Coinsins and Begnins.  For more information, see: http://www.seicgland.com/corporate/societe/article_fr.php?id=13

The power station is near the "Toblerone path", a hiking trail that follows military fortifications dating back to the Second World war.  For more information about the "Toblerone path", see: http://www.toblerones.ch/en/present_en.htm
